Students

Every student who completes the 27 month African Genesis program will travel to Egypt. Completion of assignments, maintaining a minimum “C” average in school, attending all field trips and classes and participation in fund-raising activities are crucial elements for completing the program. It is our belief that this unique opportunity for those students to visit the Motherland, listen and learn from the elders and dialogue with their African peers will result in a life altering experience and give them a correct perspective of who they are, their true history and their innate ability to succeed against all odds.

Group Leaders

In addition to the students, adult group leaders travel to Egypt. Those group leaders are involved in all aspects of the 27-month program and the trip to Egypt. It is the responsibility of the group leaders to regularly communicate with the participating students assigned to them, to answer any questions the students may have about the program and the information being disseminated. They also monitor the students to ensure that they receive all information, attend the classes and complete the monthly assignments. Group leaders also closely supervise the students on the field trips and the sojourn to Egypt and must identify any health, educational or emotional special needs of the student. Group leaders are required to participate in leadership training which includes workshops in personal development, critical thinking, cultural awareness, diversity, stress management, team building and communication skills.
